She lives 5 hours south of us.

Sadly, her raccoon is having stinky vulva area and it's red and irritated. The fur around it is also red. Anyone have experience with this?
I can't post a picture from my phone to this forum.

Can I send it to someone's phone from here?

how old is the sister? my oldest raccoon had some problems similar. I took him to the vet and had his fur shaved in his rear.
If the sisters vulva is red, I am not sure what you can use. maybe a steroid cream. However, I have to wonder if she could have a kidney infection.
If she does, she would need antibiotics. If it smells, it sounds like an infection icon-sad

The sister is the same age, 1.5 years old. She is kept outside so, I told the owner that she has fleas. She doesn't see anyone her but, she does see black spots, like specks in her fur. And when she wipes her with a wipe, it turns a dark reddish color. She's fat and can't clean her genital area herself at all. Maybe some of the flea dirt is coloring her vulva when she pees??
I'll ask her what her area smells like.

My dog had that issue because she had an entrapped vulva, in the wrong location with belly skin around it. She needed me to clean her, especially as she got older. The pee just gets in the extra folds(which is worse when fat, and sit and irritates the skin till there are sores and scabbing(if bad enough). The vet also gave me a cream for it to help that was a mix of steroids and antibiotic. She needs to give her under area a good washing then try to give her daily wipe downs and possibly see the vet to get some cream.

I need to give Aurora wipe downs due to her weight as well. She actually doesn't mind if I catch her while she's having a treat of buttermilk and it's warm water.

that sound logic about the flea dirt. I can relate to the flea dirt. I use see it on my dogs and raccoons.. (my vet noticed it too) there is a flea comb that will comb all that out. Also, I use coconut oil on my animals fur, for some strange reason, that seems to help. some of my dogs use to get ticks. didn't see them on my raccoons. (maybe I shouldn't speak too soon LOL) for the ticks, I bought guinea birds, they eat ticks. (of course they are kept outside)

you could treat her with flea and tick preventive. I don't recommend the oral flea meds.
please keep us updated on you new raccoon.
