Sepsis in a White Snake

Super sad thing happened, but wanted to make an educational post. Indiana, my beautiful pied, high-white ball python, passed away, likely from an infection that had gone septic. They are doing biopsies of her liver and kidneys, so I'm still waiting to hear back on those just to be sure, but if there's nothing wrong there, than it's the first thing.

I just wanted to post a picture of what sepsis looks like in a white snake. For educational purposes. And hopefully it will help others see the signs in their pets. Generally if something has gone septic it is too late for the animal.

Here is how she normally looks:

And here is how she started to look before it consumed her entire body:

By the end, she was red--not pink--all over her body. I didn't take a picture of her when she was dead, but in retrospect I should have. It was just too hard at the time.

I'm Fable and Ifrit's mommy. Also mommy to Carousel, Breeze, and a bunch of snakes, lizards, and spiders. Oh, and one amphibian!

Thank you. I do miss her.

The biopsies came back normal. So her cause of death was a dermitits infection gone septic.
