thank you mary. that was very interesting. I never heard of that before. sounds like there is treatment for it though.
would blood work show it? Lucy had blood work done, but, I don't understand what it all means. I know her blood levels were off.

Lucy has another vet appointment next week. I will ask the vet the check about that. he sent her blood work out to a lab to check further.
lucy was always getting ticks on her. I have a tick puller (much easier to use)

guess some dogs can get different symptoms

wonder if Neofelis dog has similar.

as soon as I get my darn printer working, I will post her blood work, maybe we can do a comparison from Neofeis's dog's blood work.

I know how frustrating it is not knowing what is wrong icon-sad

Sorry, that was for Neofelis because she said her dog's face swelled up and I knew I had seen that when looking at tick issues. It stuck with me when I saw it because when Pua had her illness long ago, her whole head swelled up at one point.

They have to test for Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever specifically. There are several other tick illnesses too though you might ask about checking for if they are in your area and can test for them if they are.

Wow, thank you Mary!! Symptoms fit. Muscle pain, abdominal pain, swelling face... I am in Southern California though, and it’s not so common here, though not unheard of. It’s going to be another 400 or 500 to check, sigh... I’ve already spent more than 700 this week on vet bills. The other option is to just give antibiotics without testing, though the vet doesn’t really want to do that...

Neofelis

how is your dog now? I hope better.

I know the vet bills are very expensive, especially for testing. Not to mention the expense for treatment.
If you have a animal shelter nearby, I think some have vets there that might be less money.

I am going to call my humane society and see if a vet there will do further tests for Lucy.
The drive for me would be about 30-40 minutes.

Please keep me updated.
