Has anyone ever had a moose...does anyone know off hand how they fall with most state's laws. I know that white tailed deer in most places cannot be 'pets'...even rehabilitaters need a special permit for them.

Moose are still banned most places. Most states ban all deer family animals to prevent disease. Only a few allow the exotic ones.

Speaking of camels... its a long term goal of mine to get a Bactrian riding camel one day, I just can't justify paying 18k or more for a even a baby camel.

I'm not sure why camels are so expensive.

Moose: would be an insanely dangerous animal to keep. There is a person not one mile from where I live with many animals, including several white tails. I know many people farm them, I wonder why one could not farm moose in the same way as white tail or caribou (proably can).

How much do they tend to cost?

There is a breeder of Bactrian camels (specialising in white camels actually) here in Sweden who said his camels cost as much as "an average riding horse". And that doesn't sound too bad, but perhaps it varies between countries.

I also really want a Bactrian one day. Camels are way smarter than horses, easy and cheap to keep because they only need to eat grass and hay (in fact, they shouldn't eat any sort of pellet-food, since their bodies have evolved to squeeze every bit of nutrition out of even very poor food), can carry heavier loads, and are less easily spooked, to name a few.

Oh and I want to ride across Europe some day, and thought why not a camel instead of a horse? (Or both? )

Exotic birds, canines, snakes and hoofstock are my main interests.

In Europe the Bactrian is more common then the dromedary, here it is the opposite and they tend to go for 15 thousand and up. Dromedary much closer in price to a good (GOOD) horse I guess at 3k and up.

Which like I said I cannot understand since it is a domestic animal and readily breeds. I guess its a supply/demand thing.

I don't care about color, the conformation of the humps is the important thing for me. Maybe one day, but I need a new Truck before I need a new camel (and they cost about the same price so.. we know who is gonna win).

Okay.

I just added that thing about white camels since I figure they are so rare, that maybe they should be more expensive - but still he sells them for the price of an "average riding horse".

Cool. Let us know what you find out. I'd be too scared to have a moose, but it would be really neat if you could get one.

Wow, that's crazy, lol. I'm also always so impressed by their size. That mother moose seems fearless.
